Daily GPS Report- Soccer, Field Players
Historical collection and interactive dashboard to streamline daily report generation and seasonal comparisons
Tools/Concepts Used
Issues
I developed this GPS dashboard to centralize the team’s GPS information throughout the season. I created it for two reasons.
- To quickly and easily generate daily reports. In addition to seamlessly tailor the variables and graphs as needed for coaching, performance, and medical medical
- Centralize the GPS information to easily compare various combinations for player evaluations, return-to-play tracking, and session comparison.
The old process created a lot of files, stagnant reports, and more documents to keep track of. In addition, I uploaded the data into the AMS but ran into issues when I needed to find historical information or compare/isolate situations.
The Build
First, The Table
I compiled and cleaned player data by organizing it by session, ensuring consistent player positioning, syncing variables from StatSports, and aligning numerical place values. Additionally, I incorporated session type and team average variables for comprehensive analysis.
Second, Pivot Tables/Charts
Creating a system of pivot tables and corresponding charts for each variable, tailoring them visually, and adding slicers for seamless integration.
Third, Slicers
Utilizing slicers to analyze variables such as match-day emphasis, practice emphasis, groups, and individual players over time simplifies the tracking process and improves accessibility.
Impact
Time Efficiency
The report generation became much more time-efficient with the seamless upload process, refreshing pivot tables, and limiting the number of adjustments. The process reduced the time required by approximately 60%
Return to Play Projections
Tracking return-to-play players with historical data, ensuring alignment with recovery trajectories, and monitoring progress.
Comparison Tracker
The slicers quickly compared sessions, player positions, and return-to-play players throughout the season. This streamlined the process, reducing the need to open and search through multiple files.
